The Beauty Of Ametrine

FROM PURPLE TO YELLOW TO ORANGE

My client, an architect, saw ametrine gemstones and fell in love with their unique characteristic: amethyst on one side and citrine on the other, creating a beautiful blend of color regions ranging from purple to yellow, with a touch of orange.

Originally, she wanted one pin with two gemstones that had some movement, and another pin for her hair.

She provided me with two sketches of her vision.

We had a good time discussing the mechanics of the design. Her vision was clear, and my job was to create and implement it.  I told her the triangular-shaped ametrine would be too heavy as a hairpin, so we created a lovely collar pin instead.

The triangular-shaped collar pin was created in sterling silver with an airline design feature to let in light to make the gem shine. The two-piece lapel pin was created in yellow gold with a very strong pin attachment to securely hold the weight of the gems, to let in light, and make the ametrines shine.

Both of these pieces were custom-made to fit her gems perfectly, and the final design was exactly what she wanted. We fashioned these pieces during COVID; yet with limited contact, I was still able to create these gorgeous designs.

What gemstones do you have that you’re not enjoying, and what would they look like re-fashioned into a different piece of jewelry? Let me know how I can help you design and carry out your vision.

TIP: Remember that gemstones are delicate, and that they should be cared for appropriately. Ametrine is durable, but can scratch easily, so keep your jewelry in boxes where they have plenty of space to breathe.

Take Care,

Jane
