A Diamond Necklace Redefined

Antique pin turned into a custom necklace design

Recently, I met with a new client to appraise all of her jewelry. As we were talking, she showed me a necklace that never sat well on her neck.

It was made from an antique pin, with beautiful diamonds set in platinum. Though the design was gorgeous, the pin was hung horizontally and never sat well on her décolletage.

Typically, you want to center a necklace around this area.

I listened to her concerns and she expressed, she wanted the necklace to move with her body.

Immediately, I knew what to do.

Instead of hanging the pin horizontally, we turned it vertically and added a bail to the back of the pin. This design will move easily with the body as well as always being centered.

Additionally, she had an interesting chain design left over from the original necklace, so I suggested we add older cut diamonds to further enhance the beauty of the piece.

The resulting necklace is a one-of-a-kind piece that she will be able to wear for many years to come.

Rather than sitting in her jewelry box, this diamond necklace now can be worn for the upcoming holiday season, for weddings and for many special occasions to come.

TIP: Every piece of jewelry you own can be redesigned to be enjoyed to the fullest. Jewelry is meant to be worn, not to sit in a jewelry box. If you have a piece you don't completely love, you can redefine it into something new.
