A Unique Birthday Gift

As some of you might know, I visit my clients in their offices or homes. I have one client who works at a lovely showroom in Midtown, and I have done many pieces for him. One of his coworkers has always noticed the jewelry I have made for him, which inspired her to create a unique birthday gift for herself.

During our initial discussion, she explained that she wanted something different, using two differently shaped stones, not necessarily diamonds, but colored stones she would wear often. When we discussed the colors she liked, she kept gravitating towards turquoise. From my years in the industry, I know that lapis lazuli complements turquoise beautifully. She wanted to wear her new ring on her index finger. So the gemstones had to be in perfect proportion with her beautiful, elegant, long fingers.

I chose several gemstones, showed them to her, and had them cut to fit her hand. Once we chose the gems, I created a wax model for her ring, and set everything in 18k yellow gold with diamond accents.

My client really has a good sense of her style and what will make her feel good about what she wears. The final result is this one-of-a-kind ring that she can wear for both day and evening.
